The Art of You

Her scent was like the morning dew and her eyes were as crisp as the cold air on a fall day. As for her smile, it could brighten up the area like the stars do the sky. As she closes her book for the night she decided to sit back and enjoy the quiet. She was a girl who never knew the feeling of closing a chapter but read many books. There was that sigh of relief, as her next move was to remove the clothes she had on to get into her comfort zone and pour a nice refreshing drink. A smooth Bourbon on a blanket of ice was her choice that night. Not only was the ice crackling from the drink but so was the fire outside that she was so hypnotized by. One of the most therapeutic noises she liked to hear.

As the night rolled on she had pure enjoyment of that first refreshing sip. The cold ice touching her lips and the satisfying smoothness flowing down her dry mouth. Now is the time to enjoy the rest of her night in peace with a new chapter to write. While light music is playing in the background and the embers of the fire screaming of heat, she was able to enjoy the silence of the trees blowing the snowflakes around the lakeside. The purity of the snow reminded me of the mind of a child, fresh and innocent. As the steam of her breath, releasing the sighs of the day, her life has never felt so right. She is the type of girl to find calmness in a book but she lived the life of an adventurous soul. One that could never be tamed but could be loved like no other. As the darkness fell upon the night and the animals roamed the woods she felt like she was home. She belonged to the night as the night to the day. And that night she opened her mind to the unknown and let the universe guide her. She released the wild child that was once in her soul that she lost along the way…

Through all of this, she has learned that every moment in life has not only been a lesson but a part of her path. With every new day, every passing moment, she as learned to love herself more and more. That very moment when she woke up and realized she had another 24 hours given to her, she appreciated life and learned to to live it to the fullest. Most importantly, she learn too loved her true self all over again. With this being said, with every closing door there will always be a new chapter in life. A new beginning, a new adventure and the love of a new journey. Once you find your destination in life you finally learn the Art of You. Your purpose in life. One of many conversations that came to my mind I had with my Dad was when he told me, on his death bed, “If it didn’t make you happy in life leave it behind.” Whether it be a person, a memory, an object …. that conversation has put so many pieces together like a puzzle.

The meaning of life but most important the Art of You.
